Vide production and environmental sustainability

As a film production company we’re doing several things to reduce our professional impact on the environment and our community.

• At the end of a shoot, excess food is donated to a local homeless organisation and distributed amongst members of the community.

• 90% of our staff cycle or walk to work and we only travel by car when absolutely necessary. When it is absolutely necessary for us to drive, we always lift share and take the minimum number of vehicles.

• Similarly, when we make travel plans for our cast and crew we arrange for them to travel together in as few cars or taxis as possible.

• We buy our shoot supplies in bulk which requires less packaging and reduces our carbon footprint, as we’re responsible for fewer shopping deliveries.

• Our productions are shot on location or in pre-existing studios, rather than building sets from scratch and dismantling them at the end of the shoot.

• We encourage our crew members to bring their own reusable water bottles and flasks. When we have to provide disposable cups, we ensure they are made from recyclable materials and not polystyrene.

• Energy saving light bulbs and rechargeable batteries are a staple in our office, as is recycled paper.

• Our information is stored and transferred digitally, keeping printing to an absolute minimum.

• We dispose of all our rubbish and recycling responsibly, recycling as many materials as possible to minimise our contribution to landfill waste.

It’s estimated that the UK’s generation of commercial and industrial waste is 27.7 million tonnes per year^[1], that 60% of all food waste could be avoided^[2] and the average global temperatures continues to rise year on year^[3]; which clearly demonstrates how important it is for productions to take responsibility for their impact of the environment.
