Smart farming technology to tackle UK farming’s invasive Black-grass problem

Every year, the UK farming industry loses 800,000 tons of wheat due to a weed called black-grass – a weed that inhibits the growth of wheat crop, reducing its yield and damaging the productivity of farms, costing farmers’ money and impacting the UK’s agricultural economy.

Bosch, the lead partner of the Smart Spray project, have used Data AI technology to specifically tackle crops affected by black-grass. This technology uses AI data and multiple cameras to single out each weed in its path, target spraying black grass without affecting the wider crop, allowing for significantly less crop spraying overall.

“Our only wish is that we knew them sooner! An absolute pleasure to work with and an impeccably talented team. From a true understanding of the brief to brilliantly smooth production and excellent delivery.”
